Olympus Corporation Zuiko Digital 25 mm for Evolt E-420 Digital Camera (261059)

Friday Nov 28, 2008

Olympus Corporation Zuiko Digital 25 mm for Evolt E-420 Digital Camera (261059)

ZUIKO DIGITAL 25 mm f2.8 is a thin, lightweight single-focus standard pancake-type lens. The lens has an overall length of 23.5 mm. When combined with E-410 or E-420, the total length including the camera body and lens is only 76.5 mm. The result is an easy-to-store, easy-to-carry camera system with go-anywhere portability. With a focal distance equivalent to 50 mm on a 35 mm film camera lens, this standard pancake-type lens provides an image angle very close to that of the naked eye. The result is a near-natural visual field that makes this an ideal standard lens for daily use, whether for simple snapshots or for more sophisticated portrait and landscape shooting.

Olympus E-3 DSLR and Olympus Sylus 790SW – Live Interview

Friday Nov 28, 2008

The new Olympus E-3 is the flagship of its Digital SLR line and provides the high-precision performance demanded by professional and enthusiastic photographers. It combines speed and weatherproof durability for capturing exceptional images in any situation. Olympus pioneered Full Time Live View and Dust Reduction technologies for digital SLR cameras, leading where others have followed. Now, the new E-3 enhances those technical innovations and raises the performance bar with the fastest autofocus in the world. Body-Integrated Mechanical Image Stabilization to stabilize every lens, a 10-megapixel Live MOS image sensor to capture beautiful images, and a magnesium alloy body for dust-proof and splash-proof durability join the impressive innovations developed for the E-3.

The Olympus Stylus 790SW is the world’s most durable digital camera. You can drop it from 5 feet, dunk it to 33 feet, freeze it (-10C/14F) or even try to crush it up to 220 pounds and it will still take amazing photos. The Stylus 770 SW’s durable construction is designed to withstand a five-foot drop, bump, or other mishap, so your camera and images are protected. It features a bright 2.5″ Hypercrystal LCD so you can easily compose, view and share your images even underwater. Digital Image Stabilization (DIS) creates sharp, blur-free pictures, even if your subject is moving. The 27 Shooting Modes allow you to master any shooting situation in stills or movies with sound. The 790SW is winterized to perform at below-freezing temps. The stainless steel body and reinforced LCD makes the Stylus 790SW able to withstand up to 220 pounds of pressure, so your camera and images are always protected. The large, high-resolution LCD features a wider viewing angle (140 degrees, left to right or up and down) and anti-glare technology that uses natural light to brighten the LCD.

Lens for Olympus EVOLT E-500 digital camera.?

Monday Nov 24, 2008

Does anyone have any idea what kind of lens would fit an Olympus EVOLT E-500 digital camera? Do all olympus Lens fit this camera or another brand that would work? I bought one of these camera's but it didn't come with a lens so I am in need of one and wondered what possible brands would fit this type camera. Thanks
I chose the Olympus Evolt because I was able to get it at a really good deal. It was an estate sale and I got it dirt cheap…it just didn't have a lens…so am trying to find a lens. I was hoping ANY olympus lens would work with this camera..so that's why I was inquiring.

fhotoace's links a excellent. I just bought an E-500 too! Learning like you :)

Here's a few more links that might help you:

The Olympus EVolt-500 site:

My Olympus Evolt E-500 Is not allowing me to put Rapid Fire on. How do I fix this?

Sunday Nov 9, 2008

I have Had an E-500 for a while now, but the Rapid fire in the shooting mode is greyed out, not allowing me to select it. How Do I fix this to be able to use it again?

The rapid fire mode is called 'Sequential Shooting' in the E-500. You can only use it in Auto or one of the manual settings on the top dial…but, not while using the Scene Modes or if you have Noise Reduction set to ON. So, make sure you are using the correct shooting mode.

Read Page 62 of your manual…and also page 187 for a chart that shows you in which shooting mode you can use Sequential Shooting…

Which digital SLR? (Olympus or Canon)?

Tuesday Nov 4, 2008

Hoping someone can help me make a decision to which camera I should get…

I currently have an Olympus e300 (which we bought 3 years ago, and it came with just a standard lens)….
I love the pictures it takes, EXCEPT I like to take pictures inside with an open curtain as a light source (as I don’t like how a flash makes people look), so it’s not too dark, but I find it just can’t take a good pic in any type of low light….(ie. either too much noise/too dark/too much blur).

I like the look of the canon 40d and the pictures it takes……but my husband thinks we should get an Olympus E3, as we already have a lens we can use with it (plus 2 other lenses we can borrow from his father)…..He also says they have somewhat fixed the low light problem in the new olympus cameras compared to our fairly old camera….He is also VERY loyal to Olympus for some reason! :)
But in the end I’m the one who does most of the photography, and I am pretty obsessed about it and don’t want to make a wrong decision.

Do canon cameras have the same problems as olympus cameras in regard to low light??

Anything else you can tell me? pros and cons of either, I would be VERY grateful!

Thanks heaps!

I had an E-300 and upgraded to a E-510 a few months ago. The newer cameras have a new image processor which produces increased quality compared to the E-300. I have noticed a difference. Since you already have some lenses and accessories for Olympus, it makes sense to stay with the system. You won’t find a significant improvement from another brand, either. I have seen images from different camera brands taken indoors without a flash, and they all tend to look similar. Another option is to get a diffuser for the flash. This would lessen the light, making it much softer. I actually chose to get a flash that I can bounce, rather than just use the pop up.
