Dslruser.co.uk’s web editor Charlotte Griffiths gets a sneak preview of Olympus’s latest Four Thirds DSLR, the EA-1. Positioned between the E-520 and the E-3, this new camera uses the E-3’s 11-point AF system, and multi angle LCD screen and incorporates the E-systems image stabilisation, 5 stops correction, and improved weather sealing. Due to be available around early 2009.
I just bought an Olympus Digital SLR camera and i now want to get a memory card for it.
But i don’t know whether to get an Olympus xd card or a compact flash card which is cheaper and has more memory.
Are compact flash cards not as good?
can you still transfer pictures onto a computer if you have a compact flash card?
Thanks for your help.
A compact flash card is the more widely used card among photographers. Therefore, more computers already have a built-in memory reader for compact flash cards. Generally, compact flash cards also offer faster transfer speeds than xD.
A leading manufacturer of digital photographic equipment, Olympus has led many innovations in the fields of imaging with their extensive market research and implementation of new technologies. Olympus, a Japanese company, was formed in 1919, and has since enjoyed considerable success and rapid growth. Previously known as Takachiho Seisakusho, the first optical product by Olympus was a microscope.
Their first photographic product was the Semi-Olympus I launched in 1936. It was a 120-roll film camera with a fixed Zuiko 75mm F4.5 lens, again an Olympus product. Olympus introduced the world to the first half-frame Single Lens Reflex (SLR) camera. With trend-setting products in the field of imaging, Olympus has subsidiaries in many countries of the world including Europe.
The Mju series also known as Stylus or Stylus Epic includes some of Olympus’ best-selling camera models to date. With a clamp-shell closing mechanism, these cameras are compact, lightweight, stylishly designed and come in different colours with varied specifications. Olympus Mju cameras are water resistant and shock proof.
The Mju 820 is a digital camera from Olympus. It comes with 5x optical zoom and an eight megapixel resolution that lets you capture every minute detail. The Mju 820 gives you an excellent preview in dim as well as bright lighting owing to its giant 6.9cm HyperCrystal LCD technology. The BrightCapture technology ensures your photos turn out perfectly even in low-light conditions. You can liven up your memories with the Mju 820’s movie-recording feature that offers up to three hours of video. This camera is available in blue, black, red and silver.
With a stunning 12 megapixel resolution and 3x optical zoom, the Olympus Mju 1200 ensures you don’t miss out on even the smallest detail and your pictures are crystal clear. The face detection technology results in perfectly focused faces with the correct light exposure. The HyperCrystal LCD along with the high ISO setting allows you to review and share blur-free shots with friends. The Olympus Mju 1200 has 20 scene modes to capture photos in different situations. Moreover, the TruePic III image processor enables faster image handling with excellent quality.
Other Olympus cameras include the Mju 770, the Mju 840, the Mju 1030, the Mju 1010 and the Mju 800. Olympus Mju cameras are user-friendly and easy to operate and so can be used by amateurs as well as professionals.

Olympus sent us a pre-production E-620 a couple of weeks ago so I shot a box opening video and mini video review. I also published a detailed first impressions article with a bunch of photos today:
I haven’t tried it. I own an Evolt-500 and love it but I’m looking foward to the changes in the new line (better ISO, image stabilization).
Go to www.dpreview.com. They have a review on one of the new evolts but for a better idea of how they really work, click on the left hand side for forums and then click on Olympus DSLR talk and see what real owners are saying, also most alot of people post their pics on there as well.
Did you ever wish that you could have a camera to bring to the beach that took great pictures on land and in the water? Well your wish has come true. Olympus cameras have come up with a digital camera that takes great pictures on land and underwater.
The Olympus Stylus 850 has all those great features that you desire. This camera is waterproof to 10 feet of water, takes great pictures and movies, comes in different colors, has a 5x digital zoom, rugged metal body and revolutionary shock-absorbing construction are designed to withstand a 5′ drop.
The things that I like about the Olympus Stylus 850 digital camera is that it has Face Detection that tracks your subjects’ faces within the frame and automatically focuses and optimizes exposure for sharp, brilliant pictures. Plus, the camera panorama mode captures 3 images and stitches them together to create one amazing panoramic picture.
But you may ask “why Olympus digital cameras?” Well the answer is “Olympus digital cameras is well known for producing high quality cameras way before digital cameras became popular and well known.” Olympus has their own line of digital cameras to choose from, including the SLR cameras, they are unique and are highly recommended by professional photographers, and amateur photographers as well. They are easy to operate and make photography fun!
The Olympus Stylus 850 digital camera is affordable, priced under $300. There are other Olympus models to choose from but if you want a fun camera that’s easy to operate than the Olympus Stylus 850 is for you.
