It focuses but then has a flashing green dot in the corner and won’t take the picture.
How do I fix this?

already changed SAF to CAF and have it on P

I dont know what the problem is but I can give you suggestions-
set everything back to factory settings

Can someone explain to me the M/S/A/P dial settings?
What they do and how to use them.

I would look in the manual, but it’s in french -.-

They are:

M — Manual, which means you set aperture and shutter speed

S — Shutter priority, which means you set the shutter speed and the camera sets the aperture

A — Aperture priority, which means you choose the aperture and the camera sets the shutter speed

P — Program, which means the camera handles both aperture and shutter

Your manual will have details. It’s the best place to learn the details of operating your camera.

Sometimes my e420 won’t take pictures, it zooms in and out like it does, then gets a green dot in the right hand corner of the screen but won’t take.

Help?

Put it in P mode. Turn the SAF to CAF. Close the flash. Take a picture of a lamp, or a window, something with a defined light.
