This video was made using an emulator at really slow speeds and using savestates (to undo mistakes countless times). It’s meant as a demonstration of what is the fastest possible time, and has nothing to do with gaming skills.
Battle of Olympus (オリュンポスの戦い) improved by 9 minutes and 11 seconds, which means that the length of Arc’s previous movie was almost halved.
This improvement consists of the utilization of a major glitch, pressing Left+Right at the same time for almost unlimited velocity growth. The trick is documented at Battle of Olympus Tricks.
The route used in this movie is decided by a few things the hero (Orpheus) must do:
Collect three heart pieces in order to activate the Tartarus entry.
Get a key to access the third heart location.
Get an eyeball of Graeae to see invisible doors (to access the second heart location).
Get a sword from the Spirit of Forest. It is needed to kill the three-headed guardian with respawning heads in Tartarus.
Collect 60 olives in order to buy an ocarina, which will be needed to cross the sea to get to Crete and Tartarus.
Get a harp in order to call Pegasus. It makes the route faster.
People often compare this game with Zelda 2 because of its similar gameplay.
